Omnilith GL is an outstanding multi-purpose grease that is suitable for use in extreme pressure applications. It was primarily designed to meet the "GC-LB” standards for vehicle chassis and wheel bearing lubrication, as governed by the NLGI (National Lubricating Grease Institute). Omnilith GL is designed to lubricate wheel bearings in vehicles equipped with front disk brakes, where high temperatures can be generated during breaking. Omnilith GL is free of solid materials and is suitable for use in precision bearings with internal clearance C2 or CN. It meets all NLGI GC-LB requirements such as high temperature life, resistance to oil leakage, elastomer compatibility, low temperature performance, and water resistance. To ensure good performance and long term stability it is best to start with a clean bearing or flush out the old grease. Omnitask grease is designed for heavily loaded operations in the lower speed range and in all situations where high load, shock load, and high vibrations can lead to premature component wear. To an extremely effective EP package, Whitmore has added graphite and molybdenum disulfide (MoS2). The combination of high base oil viscosity, EP package, and solid lubricants provides synergies that assure maximum protection from wear and seizure under the most difficult conditions. High performance synthetic polymers make these greases cohesive and adhesive, resisting pound-out and sling-off under shock load. The polymer additives in Omnitask cause the excess grease to form a collar or ring around the bearing seal, shutting out dust and moisture. The thickener used in Onyx is calcium sulfonate complex, which provides excellent performance in the presence of water or steam. If water gets churned into the grease, Onyx will resist breaking down and flowing out of the bearing. It will continue to lubricate under conditions that would turn conventional greases to liquid. To this thickener, Whitmore has added tacky polymers and a high viscosity base oil, imparting outstanding water repellency. On the water sprayoff test (see data table), a result of less than 20% grease loss is considered good; Onyx EP 2 loses 9% on this test. On the water washout test, 5% is a good result; Onyx EP 2 loses only about 1%. The extreme pressure capability of Onyx is outstanding.
