Teledyne Detcon Remote/Alarm Module
The Remote Sensor/Alarm Relay Module (known as the Remote/Alarm Module or RAM) is sold separately as an accessory for Model 700 and 100 Series gas sensors. It is a universal design and can be used with any of the Model 700 or 100 gas sensors. The RAM is provided in an explosion-proof junction box constructed of either epoxy-painted aluminum or 316 stainless steel, and includes a glass-viewing window. The RAM has two main functions. The first function is used to set gas alarm levels and to configure the three local relay contacts. The second function is used to operate a the gas sensor remotely. The remote sensor function is typically used when the sensor must be mounted in a position where it cannot be viewed or accessed readily. Both functions can be used at the same time. The RAM provides the 4-20 mA output directly from the gas sensor (Model 700 only). The RAM acts as a Modbus™ master to the gas sensor in order to display the reading and execute the remote control functions. It acts as a Modbus™ slave to any master control device and simply repeats the Modbus™ output from the gas sensor it is connected to. To extend the desiccant's life, the X-Series incorporates two check valves and a reusable top cap. The check valves provide a closed system until airflow is required, extending the service life of the desiccant. Specifically, the intake check valve allows airflow into the breather only when differential pressure between the atmosphere and fluid reservoir exceeds a 0.1-psi threshold, while the exhaust check valve permits air to exit the reservoir when the differential pressure exceeds a 2.0-psi threshold. A 0.1-psi check valve is also available for exhaust. When the gold silica gel cartridge turns dark green, simply install a new replacement cartridge to keep things moving. All X-Series models feature two 2 micron filters, one on the inlet and a second on the outlet.
