MULTISERVICE LUBRICANT Whitmore Surtac 2000 is a “multiservice” lubricant for use on Draglines. Surtac 2000 has won the confidence of both end users and OEMs. It has a well-established record on some of the most highly loaded and expensive open gear applications. Surtac 2000 forms a protective coating on metal without the use of asphalt, solvents or lead. Surtac 2000 contains graphite and MoS2 (molybdenum disulfide). With the help of some specialized chemistry these solid lubricants bond with the metal surface. They form a dense gray-colored film, which minimizes metal-to-metal contact and wear. Using Surtac 2000, lubricant consumption is reduced by about 50% compared to asphaltic fluids. Many slow-moving bearings and bushings can benefit from the use of Surtac 2000, allowing lubricant inventories to be reduced. Benefits LOWERS OPERATING TEMPERATURES - extends gear life, reduces operating expenses. MULTISERVICE LUBRICANT - may be used on open gears, many bearings, bushings and some enclosed gears. Whitmore’s Vortex Coupling Grease is a tacky, lithium-polymer thickened grease specifically formulated for long term lubrication of greased mechanical couplings including gear tooth, chain type, and steel grid designs. Vortex may be used in couplings of any size and at high speed. Results of the high-speed centrifugal test (ASTM D-4425) have shown that the dual thickener used in Vortex permits only miniscule oil separation even at 15,000 rpm. Oil separation is the major cause of lubricant failure in couplings. Robust anti-wear and extreme pressure additives in combination with a high viscosity fluid assure protection from abrasive wear that is generated by low amplitude, high frequency rubbing motion common to industrial couplings. Vortex can be used to lubricate slow moving, heavily loaded bushings, especially where water contamination exists. It is also recommended for pressurized wire rope lubrication devices. Supplemental heat may be required in order to facilitate pumping at temperatures below freezing. BENEFITS: REDUCED DOWNTIME - no unscheduled downtime due to lubrication failures. HOUSEKEEPING - no oil leakage, even where seals are imperfect. LONG LIFE - extended grease life gives an extra measure of security and reduces maintenance labor. ALL COUPLINGS - one product can be used for all sizes and speeds, including areas of water contamination. TEMPERATURE RANGE – Usable from -20° F to 300°F (-30° C to 150° C) APPLICATIONS: Use Vortex in all sizes of gear, chain and grid type couplings, where grease is the recommended lubricant. Typical manufacturers include Fast’s, Koppers, Lovejoy, Falk, TB Wood’s, and Browning. Vortex can be used at all speeds found in industrial applications and also in the presence of water and steam.
