Today, the automatic transmission fluid market is very complicated. It was not that many years ago that it was hard to go wrong either changing your ATF or topping it off. The chances were, that your vehicle’s owner’s manual specified either General Motor’s Dexron or Ford’s Mercon ATF and most transmission fluids on the shelf of your local auto parts store met both specifications.
