Appleton ATX PRE Series 16 Amp Plugs and Sockets are ideal for use where an increased safety (Ex e) socket is required for use with portable or stationery electrical equipment such as lighting systems, conveyors, heaters, motor-generator sets, air conditioners, compressors, and pumps. Plug and socket system is designed with a safe disconnect mechanism to ensure maximum hazardous location protection in damp, wet or corrosive environments. The sockets are available in wall-mount, flush-mount and mobile versions. The PRE is designed so that the contact separation is in a flameproof chamber, while the automatic electrical disconnection of each phase is contained in a second flameproof chamber. They have a short circuit protection of 20 kA, while normal reference is 10 kA. Each voltage model is color coded for easy identification. For added safety the receptacles are keyed to accept only ATX plugs (other plugs cannot be accidently inserted).
