Appleton UPR Series 125 Amp Plugs and Sockets have a short circuit protection of 20 kA and are ideal for use where an increased safety (Ex e) socket is required for use with portable or stationery electrical equipment. The assembly is equipped with a patented silver plated linear switch which allows a total disconnection of power when plug is removed. The high voltage contact separation is in a flameproof chamber, the automatic electrical disconnection of each phase is contained in a second flameproof chamber. The plug and socket are color coded per voltage and designed with positive polarization, therefore only ATX plugs of the same style, number of poles and ampere rating may be used with these sockets. They provide interlocked 3-pole or 4-pole Ex de disconnecting on-load switch, with an auxiliary contact. The plug is mechanically locked in the socket when the switch is ON, it cannot be inserted or removed unless switch is in the OFF position. The switch operating handle can be padlocked in the OFF position.
