What are CTG Energizer gaskets?
The CTG Energizer™ is the low-torque flange gasket made by CTG, Inc. (CT Gasket & Polymer Co.) for FRP and plastic piping systems: a 65–75 durometer elastomer body with a seamless sealing face of 100% virgin TFM® or PTFE totally bonded to it. CTG states it needs minimal torque to seal and will not come apart at the inside seam.
PE Energy supplies CTG Energizer gaskets in standard sizes from 1/2″ to 24″, and 26″ to 36″ by request.

Are CTG Energizer gaskets used in data centers?
CTG designed the Energizer for FRP and plastic piping systems, where flanges cannot take high bolt loads. According to CTG, it is widely used in data center cooling plants, where plastic piping (FRP, PVDF, HDPE) with ANSI-style flanged joints carries glycol and water and goes through constant thermal cycling.

Which CTG Energizer style should I order?
| Style | Construction | Use on |
|---|---|---|
| CTG Energizer NRT (no ribs) | TFM® or PTFE shield bonded to elastomer body; will not interfere with the raised (serrated) portion of the flange | Cast & ductile iron, CPVC, PVC, Fibercast FRP, machine-made FRP, press-molded FRP, PVDF, serrated or ribbed steel |
| CTG Energizer ET (ribbed) | Three sealing ribs (two below 2″), increased shield thickness | Contact-molded and hand lay-up FRP; flat-faced flanges with no ribs or serrations |
| CTG Energizer ER (ribbed, elastomer only) | Fully ribbed seal, no shield; EPDM, Viton®, HNBR, NBR and more | Ductile iron, fiberglass, FRP, plastic, PVC |
| CTG Energizer NRR (no ribs, elastomer only) | Flat elastomer gasket, ring face or full face | Ductile iron, fiberglass, FRP, plastic, PVC |
The CTG data sheet covers the NRT and ET styles; ER and NRR are listed on CTG’s product page. Confirm the part number for ER and NRR styles when you request a quote.
