What are Appleton MD2DS Series Factory Sealed Disconnect Switches?

Appleton MD2DS Series Factory Sealed Disconnect Switches are available in fused and unfused versions which can function as load either a disconnect switch or as an individual motor control switch. Ideal for use in hazardous locations or in damp, wet or corrosive environments these units are equipped with defeatable door interlock which allows emergency access when the switch is energized. The fused model is rated for the short circuit to withstand up to 200,000 RMS symmetrical amperes (Class J fusing), while the unfused model is rated for the short circuit to withstand up to 10,000 RMS symmetrical amperes. The operating handle can be locked in the OFF position with provisions to lock it in the ON position. The cover is removable, allowing easier access to the interior for installation and maintenance, and can be padlocked closed.
