Matrix is a calcium sulfonate complex grease that is highly recommended for difficult applications such as extreme pressure, water, heat, or chemical attack.
The thickener system in Matrix has a protective effect similar to that of molybdenum disulfide, protecting equipment from wear under difficult conditions of extreme load and slow speed.
Matrix helps neutralize acids and also resists reacting with caustic materials. Matrix grease has prevented corrosion despite years of exposure to phosphoric acid fumes.
A continuous temperature of 400°F (200°C) is within its safe range. It can withstand 550°F (288°C) continuously, provided the bearing is replenished every 30 minutes with normal quantities of grease. Occasional temperature spikes to 600°F (315°C) can be sustained for 5 to 10 minute periods without melting or carbonizing.
Matrix EP 2 may be used at DN speeds up to 200,000. Matrix TK 2 (NLGI grade 2) is designed for slower moving bearings up to 150,000 DN.
Matrix EP 2 is the preferred grade for electric motor bearings. Matrix EP 2 meets the Bucyrus International specification for multi-purpose grease (SD 4711).
BENEFITS:
- LONG LIFE – reduced relubrication frequency.
- WATER RESISTANT – seals out water, even in underwater applications.
- WIDE SPEED RANGE – recommended for use in electric motor bearings as well as slow moving bearings and bushings.
APPLICATIONS:
Water / Chemicals: Phosphate processing, suction and wet end rolls on paper machines, outdoor cranes and ship lifts, boat trailer wheel bearings and other marine applications.

WHITMORES 888 EP 00 Pail Greases
$134.70Whitmore's 888 is primarily designed for use in heavy earthmoving and industrial equipment. The high protection from extreme pressure makes it suitable for use anywhere high load is encountered. Protection from wear under high load is accomplished by the use of SL-Tech, a proprietary blend of light-colored solid lubricants. This forms a protective cushion and provides greater extreme pressure properties than MoS2 or graphite. Protection is further enhanced by the use of selected additives that increase film strength and adhesion.BENEFITS: VERSATILE FORMULATION - one grease can cover all normal ambient temperature applications in the slow to medium speed range. EXTREME PRESSURE/ANTI-WEAR - protects against scoring, high shock load conditions, thus reducing downtime and costs of replacement parts. SAFE – contains no heavy metals or hazardous ingredients. APPLICATIONS: 888 grease is ideal for heavy-duty plant lubrication, earthmoving equipment and applications involving extreme pressure. For the most severely loaded applications such as bearings on vertical roller mills, pelletizing mills or shaker screens, use Whitmore’s Matrix EP 2. Size and Type Container: Pail Weight: 38 LBS. -
VORTEX EP 1 50 CT CARTRIDGES Greases
Whitmore’s Vortex Coupling Grease is a tacky, lithium-polymer thickened grease specifically formulated for long term lubrication of greased mechanical couplings including gear tooth, chain type, and steel grid designs. Vortex may be used in couplings of any size and at high speed. Results of the high-speed centrifugal test (ASTM D-4425) have shown that the dual thickener used in Vortex permits only miniscule oil separation even at 15,000 rpm. Oil separation is the major cause of lubricant failure in couplings. Robust anti-wear and extreme pressure additives in combination with a high viscosity fluid assure protection from abrasive wear that is generated by low amplitude, high frequency rubbing motion common to industrial couplings. Vortex can be used to lubricate slow moving, heavily loaded bushings, especially where water contamination exists. It is also recommended for pressurized wire rope lubrication devices. Supplemental heat may be required in order to facilitate pumping at temperatures below freezing. BENEFITS: REDUCED DOWNTIME - no unscheduled downtime due to lubrication failures. HOUSEKEEPING - no oil leakage, even where seals are imperfect. LONG LIFE - extended grease life gives an extra measure of security and reduces maintenance labor. ALL COUPLINGS - one product can be used for all sizes and speeds, including areas of water contamination. TEMPERATURE RANGE – Usable from -20° F to 300°F (-30° C to 150° C) APPLICATIONS: Use Vortex in all sizes of gear, chain and grid type couplings, where grease is the recommended lubricant. Typical manufacturers include Fast’s, Koppers, Lovejoy, Falk, TB Wood’s, and Browning. Vortex can be used at all speeds found in industrial applications and also in the presence of water and steam. Also suitable for slow-moving bushings and greased wire ropes. Vortex meets the requirements of AGMA CG-1, CG-2, and CG-3 for coupling grease Size and Type Container: CS Weight: 50 LBS. -
