Appleton UPR Series 63 Amp Plugs and Sockets are ideal for use where an increased safety (Ex e) socket is required for use with portable or stationery electrical equipment such as lighting systems, conveyors, heaters, motor-generator sets, air conditioners, compressors, and pumps. Plug and socket assembly is designed with positive polarization, therefore only ATX plugs of the same style, number of poles and ampere rating may be used with these sockets. They provide interlocked 3-pole or 4-pole Ex de disconnecting on-load switch, with an auxiliary contact. The plug is mechanically locked in the socket when the switch is ON. The switch operating handle can be padlocked in the OFF position. Plugs cannot be inserted or removed unless switch is in the OFF position.
