Which valve sealant should I use for dry gas service?
Val-Tex 80 is the standard choice for dry gas
service: it is the oldest, most requested and most cost-effective lube sealant in the line, rated
-20°F to 500°F, biodegradable and free of fillers. For storage valves at extreme high
pressure step up to Val-Tex 85, and for emergency
sealing of a leaking valve in dry gas use
80+FTFE (PTFE-filled, not for repeated use).
What valve sealant do plug valve manufacturers recommend for high pressure?
Val-Tex 972 is the lube sealant most recommended
by high-pressure plug valve manufacturers globally, formulated for high-pressure and
high-temperature oil and gas service with Moly-Disulfide to reduce operating torque. On well
service units where extreme pressures are encountered, the heavier-bodied
80-HM is the purpose-built alternative.
What is the difference between a valve lubricant and a valve sealant?
A valve lube sealant both lubricates the valve and seals the seat/sealing surfaces,
while a pure valve lubricant only reduces friction and torque.
Val-Tex 2000 is a lubricant ONLY, developed for
commissioning new ball valves, with excellent resistance to liquids across natural gas,
hydrocarbon, LPG, sour and CO2 service. Every other family in the table above is a
combined lube sealant.
How do you clean hardened valve sealant out of a valve?
Val-Tex Valve Flush works on the principle of
pressure and penetration, cleaning out hardened sealants and lubricants left by filler-containing
products. It contains no acid, caustic, solvent or solids, so it cleans the valve without adding
contaminants. Flush first, then re-lubricate with the correct sealant from the table above.
What equipment injects valve sealant sticks and bulk sealant?
