TX Series Low Profile Hydraulic Torque Wrench

The Flattest And Most Tight Fitting Hydraulic Bolting Tool In The Industry

The TX series is the “go-to” wrench when standard industrial torque tools are limited by size in their ability to engage the fastener. The TX eliminates issues around the nut, behind the nut and above the nut. On applications with extended stud protrusion, the TX easily slips over to get the torque applied with an accuracy of +/-3%.

  • Made In USA
  • Seven Models From 60 lbf-ft to 53,650 lbf-ft
  • Every Unit Calibrated In ISO17025 Laboratory
  • Manufactured With AQ Certified Alloys
  • Genuine TorcUP Design

Features
Patented “Peanut-Shaped” Piston
This feature allows the cylinder and ratchet link to be the same width. Friction reducing sliders prevent wear on the piston.

Dual Independent Swivels
The unique swivel design allows for 360 degree by 360 degree independent movement of the hoses to avoid any and all reaction points.

Hex Link Cassettes
Each link is fitted with steel alignment pins connecting the lower reaction area for added strength.

No Drip Quick Connect Couplers
These 3:1 rated safety couplers are designed for simple engagement. The coupler collar ensures safe operation.

Cylinder and Link Material
Both cylinder and link are manufactured from 4340 Aircraft Quality high strength steel alloy.

Nose Radius
Tight nose radius allows this tool to fit in applications where clearance constraints make other tools too bulky.

In-Line Reaction Pad
This design ensures torsion-free reaction every time.

Link Pin
One pin for link to cylinder engagement – no tool required for swapping ratchet links.

What is the TorcUP TX-8 drive cylinder?

The TorcUP TX-8 is the low profile drive cylinder of the TX series hydraulic torque wrench. It mates with a ratchet link whose hex fits the nut, and one link retaining pin holds the two together. TorcUP’s TX manual says the series is designed for threaded fasteners having minimal wrench clearance that need precise high torque at bolt makeup and maximum torque at bolt breakout.

From the TX manual: to fit a link, push the link retaining pin out of the drive cylinder, set the cylinder between the side plates of the selected ratchet link, align the holes and insert the pin. TorcUP’s TX page adds that no tool is required for swapping ratchet links.

Which TX-8 specs decide whether it fits a tight bolting job?

Check three things against the TX catalog: the torque you need, the hex size of the nut, and the space around, behind and above the nut. TorcUP lists the TX-8 values below as reference values only; the calibration torque chart provided with the tool governs.

Property Value Source note
Torque range 800 to 8800 lbf-ft TorcUP TX catalog, reference values
Torque range, metric 1033 to 12055 Nm TorcUP TX catalog, reference values
Hex range 1 7/8” (49mm) to 4 5/8” (120mm) TorcUP TX catalog
Output accuracy +/-3% TorcUP TX catalog
Cylinder weight 11.7 lbs TorcUP TX catalog
Link weight 11.9 to 14.5 lbs TorcUP TX catalog, depends on link
Length 10.18 in / 258.6 mm TorcUP TX catalog
Width 2.05 in / 52.1 mm TorcUP TX catalog
Height 7.0 in / 177.8 mm TorcUP TX catalog

Why does the TX-8 torque chart change with the ratchet link?

The TX manual prints the TX-8 torque conversion chart in three columns, one per link hex range, so the same pump pressure gives a different torque depending on which link is fitted. Read the column for the link on the tool, and the calibration chart for your specific tool.

  • Hex range 1 7/8″ to 3 1/8″: 3982 ft-lbs at 5,000 psi.
  • Hex range 3 3/16″ to 3 9/16″: 4208 ft-lbs at 5,000 psi.
  • Hex range 3 5/8″ to 4 5/8″: 4885 ft-lbs at 5,000 psi.

Where can I buy a TorcUP TX-8 drive cylinder?

Use the Request a Quote button on this page and reference SKU TX-8. Give the hex size of the nut, because the drive cylinder works with a ratchet link sized to it, and check your pump: the TX manual calls for a hydraulic pump capable of generating 10,000 psi maximum pressure and twin line hose rated for 10,000 psi.
