What is the Parmelee 73145?

The Parmelee 73145 (G3 3-1/2) is a G3 girth for pipe, tubing or rod with a 3-1/2″ outside diameter (OD). The girth is the 3-piece head of the Parmelee pipe wrench that grips the pipe, tube or rod 360 degrees around its outside diameter. It mounts on the H3 heavy gauge handle (Parmelee 71003), sold separately.

The Parmelee wrench (sometimes spelled Parmalee), also called pipe tongs or a friction wrench, has no teeth: this girth closes around the work 360 degrees and does not mar polished pipe or piston rods.

The girth of the No. 3 wrench is drop forged steel, toughened and hardened by heat treatment. Standard girths like this one have a polished finish.

Which pipe size does the Parmelee 73145 fit?

It fits 3-1/2″ OD only. Parmelee makes a separate girth for each diameter of pipe, tubing or rod, and a girth cannot be used on any other diameter. Measure the outside diameter before ordering; for pipe known by its nominal size, see the IPS girths.

Parmelee states that each wrench comes with a lock bolt (L3, 71007), adjusting nuts (N3, 71011) and a slip pin (P3, 71015), also sold as replacements.
