What is the Parmelee 71013?
The Parmelee 71013 (P1) covers the slip pins for the No. 1 light gauge Parmelee pipe wrench. The slip pin, made from a durable grade of steel, attaches the girth to the handle, and each pin comes with a miniature O-ring that holds it in place. Because the pin is removable, the handle can be fitted with a different size girth.
How does the Parmelee wrench grip without marking the pipe?
The Parmelee wrench (sometimes spelled Parmalee), also called pipe tongs, friction tongs or a friction wrench, has no teeth. Its girth surrounds the pipe completely, the way a hand closes around it, and the ratchet action of the handle takes a new grip with each pull. That is why it is used on highly polished pipe and piston rods and in tight spaces where a chain or toothed wrench would mar the finish.
What do you need for a complete Parmelee No. 1 wrench?
- Handle: H1 handle assembly, Parmelee 71001
- Girth: one G1 girth for each pipe diameter
- Lock bolt: L1, Parmelee 71005, comes with each wrench and is also sold as a replacement
- Adjusting nuts: N1, Parmelee 71009, come with each wrench and are also sold as replacements
- Slip pins: P1, Parmelee 71013, come with each wrench and are also sold as replacements (this page)
Girths and handles are sold separately. Parmelee states that each wrench comes with a lock bolt, adjusting nuts and a slip pin, and the same parts are sold separately as replacements. The handle and girth can be shipped assembled on request, at an extra charge confirmed with the quote.

- Clean the wrench after use, apply a light coat of oil against rust and store it in a dry place.
