What does Lucas Safeguard ethanol fuel conditioner do?

Lucas developed Safeguard Ethanol Fuel Conditioner with Stabilizers to address problems linked to ethanol based fuels. The Lucas data sheet lists antioxidants, corrosion inhibitors and water dispersants, and says the conditioner helps keep injectors, valve seats and the combustion chamber clean of deposits, gums and varnishes.

  • Fuel stabilizer: stabilizes fuel and prevents varnish and gum formation in ethanol and gasoline.
  • Rust and corrosion: contains additives to prevent the rust and corrosion associated with ethanol fuels.
  • Engine oil: helps protect engine oil from forming emulsions with fuel and products of combustion that enter the oil sump.

How much Lucas ethanol treatment do you add per gallon of fuel?

Lucas directs one ounce of Safeguard for every five gallons of fuel, which is 30 mL per 18.9 L. Lucas also states that an over treatment will not be harmful, so round up rather than down when a tank falls between doses.
